Birthday trip

A HUGE thank you to all of you who left me wonderful birthday wishes.  I had a fantastic day and lots of fun and quality time with my hubby.
As you'll be able to see in the photos below, the "sun" part of our sun and sand adventure was a bit of a let down.  We went shelling on Friday for several hours.  It was super windy and overcast which helped a bit with the heat but I still ended up with the back of my neck burnt.  Whoops!  Forgot to put the sunscreen there.
Saturday morning we woke to thunderstorms which lasted most of the morning.  Since our shelling hadn't panned out to be as good as we would have liked we started to work our way back home along the coastline.
As you can see the waves were really kicking up.
Red flags were out so no swimming.

Hubby let me do a little scrapbook shopping but that turned out to be a bust.  It was sweet of him though.  We visited the Air Force Armament Museum in Shalimar.   We had fun touring through all the cool planes they have there.
Wish the weather would have cooperated a bit more and the shelling would have been better, but we had a great time together and that made it a perfect trip all around.
There's no way I can catch up with the 300+ posts from the blogs I'm following in my reader so I'll have to start from scratch with you all tomorrow.
Hope you have a great week!

Summer Flirts

Boy oh boy does this image bring back memories.  This could be hubby and me quite a few years back.
Our challenge this week at Mo's Digital Pencil is "Fun in the Sun".  I've merged two of Mo's great summer images, "Surfer Dude" and "At the Beach".  These two definitely seem to have caught each others eye.  Now get you mind out of the gutter.  They are not checking out each others butts.  hee hee  Even though that does seem to be where there eyes are focusing.
I've used this months CLP Sketch.  The brackets are pieces of a Nestie die that I cut down and layered.  I used some cork to simulate sand and added some little punched shells that I scored and embossed for a little shape.  I braided the hemp cord to mimic his "jewelry" and added some grommets.  Hmmm....grommets.  This is the first time I have ever used these things and it will probably be the last. I had to use a hammer to set them in the paper before I used my Crop-a-dile to close the prongs.  They were really a bit to large for the tool and those prongs sank there nasty little teeth into my poor Croppie.  It nor I liked that one bit!  So they're in there like it or not.
This weeks challenge at the Catered Crop is "So shapely".  We want to see your die cuts and punches. I have both on my card and there's lots of inspiration over at the CC blog to help you play along.
So grab a Mo image for the DP2 challenge that has something to do with "Fun in the Sun" and come join in for your chance at a gift voucher to Mo's amazing store.

It's day two of our TSG sneak peeks.

Artist Megan Suarez has two fabulous sets for us this month, both a continuation of her previous lines. Amalia’s Daisy, the second Amalia stamp for us, is SUPER adorable, and sure to make her way into your heart one flower at a time. Cinnamon is the newest addition to the Spice Girl line. I love how spicy but sweet these girls are!!!

Amalia’s Daisy is a 3x4 set that includes a total of 4 stamps and will sell for $9.00

Cinnamon is a 3x4 set that includes a total of 6 stamps and will sell for $9.00

I decided to play with Cinnamon for my card and pulled some pretty soft colors from the papers to color her in.  I added some stitching and paper piercing and popped her up on foam dots.  Isn't she a sweetie!

There She Goes Blog Hop Sneak Peeks--This is my life

Welcome to day one of the sneak peeks of the new June release stamps sets from There She Goes Clear Stamps.

Torico has designed a set that will be useful to card makers, scrapbookers, and multi-media artists alike. This is my life helps you tell your story, your way. Super cute images, fonts, and the number of sentiments and their possibilities are endless.

This is My Life is a 4x6 set that includes a total of 21 stamps and will sell for $15.00.

I struggled a bit with this set.  Not because I don't like it, but because my mojo took a hike.  I promise the rest of my cards this week are much better.
I'm a read-a-holic so I jumped at the chance to make another of these corner book marks.  They work so much better for me than the usual kind.  This set includes so many cute phrases and individual words that its a snap to come up with a fun sentiment.  I probably should have added a bit more color to the smiley face guy, but he reminded me so much of the zentangle drawings I wanted to leave him black and white.
Make sure you check out the rest of the stops on the hop cause I'm sure my fellow Trendsetters have come up with much better projects to show you just how cute this set it.  I've been wanting to start doing some art journaling and the "This Is My Life" set will be perfect!---when I get up the nerve.  LOL
Would you like to win the new This Is My Life stamp set? Here is what you need to do-visit the Trendsetter’s blogs that are participating in each of the blog hop challenges below and comment on their creations as you go. One of the Trendsetter’s blogs (from each hop day) will be randomly chosen as the ‘it’ blog and a winner will be picked using a random number generator from the comments left on that Trendsetter’s Blog Hop Challenge post.
You will not know which blog has been chosen so the more you comment on the better your chances are of winning new stamps! The Blog Hop Challenges will be open until 5 PM Eastern Time Saturday, June 29th with the winner being announced during the release party chat.

Supplies:
Paper--My Mind's Eye "Sunny", Recollections, Copic XPress-it Blending card

Monkey business

First off I'd like to say thank you to all of you who shared your hubby crafting stories with me.  I had the best time reading all your comments.  Glad to know I'm not alone.  hee hee
It's There She Goes Again Friday at TSG and the Trendsetters are showing the three sets that have been spotlighted on the blog this week.  I chose to use this adorable monkey image from the "Jungle Out There" set along with the great sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  Hop on over to the blog to check out all the new Trendsetter cards.
     Happy Friday!

Supplies:
Paper--Recollections, Bazzill, Copic XPress-it Blending card
Stamps--There She Goes Clear Stamps "Jungle Out There"

Tools--Nestabilities Standard Circles, MFT Fishtail Stax, sewing machine

It's all about the cake

I'm actually a bit jealous of most of my friends out there in card land.  I hear you talking about how supportive your hubby's are and how they "get" your hobby, and mine . . . .NOT!  He's not mean about it or anything and he would never tell me to stop.  He just doesn't get my need to create.  I tried to coax him into it by mentioning here and there that some card he had seen me working on had won a Top 3 winner or spotlight to which he had to come back and zing me with "you mean a Top 3 Loser, cause if you didn't win, you lost".  Ha ha hee hee isn't he just so funny.  That became the running joke, "how many Top Losers did you get today?"  Smart alec.
Slowly but surely I'm beginning to win him over and it's changed to "how many wins did you get today" and he'll congratulate me if there happens to be one.  Well I guess now that he's given my hobby a little respect he suddenly knows all about it.  While working on this card he came in while I was trying to decide what color buttons to use.  I had some orange ones in my hand and all of a sudden he starts yelling "NO orange, NO orange!!!"  I thought he was going to snatch them out of my hand.  So red it is and now I have a consultant.  LOL
So here is my card for this weeks challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil.  I've used "Tall Cake" and as many bright eye popping colors as I could to fit the bill for our sweet Franz's "Bright Colors" challenge.  Pop out your brights and a Mo image and come play along for your chance at some Mo goodness from the DP store.
Here are a few challenges I'd like to enter my card into:

Here's the scoop

I'm very honored to be featured at Delightful Challenges today.  I was chosen as one of the Top picks last week and was asked to be a Guest Designer.  I got to play with this little cutie who is one of the new summer release images.  I'd like to thank Leslie and the powers that be for putting me in the spotlight.  I thought I was going to be playing along with the DT for the new challenge.  LOL
The image is called "Ice Cream Roxy" and you can find it in the Digital Delights by Louby Loo shop.
I got lucky and found the ice cream paper in one of my paper pads from American Crafts.  I colored Roxy and her summer accessories with Copics and added some white gel pen dots to her umbrella and Glossy Accents to her shades.  I did a bit of texturing with a terry cloth and some colorless blender solution but it didn't work as well as I would have liked.  I think I need to find a cloth with a bit more fluff to it.
You can hop over to the Delightful Challenges blog and check out my Guest Designer feature.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

The Lawn Ranger rides again, and again, and again.......

(If you missed my earlier post for Mo's Digital Pencil, please click here)

WOOHOO!  Two cards in one day.  LOL  Thought I'd share the card I made my dad for Father's Day. Yes, this is another one of those quirky Art Impression stamps, but this is one I purchased myself a while back with my Dad in mind.  There is a bit of a story behind me using this image.  You see the family alternately shakes their heads and cackles with laughter when Dad mows his lawn.  He and Mom have an acre that is predominantly open yard and the man will literally mow it for four days.  No, there is not that much grass.  He'll mow it and then mow it again to blow it into piles and well....we're not really sure what the other mowings are for.  LOL  Maybe he just loves to ride the mower that much.  Who knows but at least it keeps him out of mischief.  So as you can see, I figured this stamp, aptly titled "The Lawn Ranger", captured this aspect of his character pretty darned well.
Since we're talking about dads, pop over to the Catered Crop and play along with the "For the Boys" challenge Linda has up.  She has a great inspiration board up if you need some ideas.
Hope you have something fun planned for the weekend.  My poor hubby has to work so I might need to find something to keep myself out of mischief.  Wonder if Dad will let me borrow his lawn mower?  mwahahaha

Cannonball!!!!

Now I didn't get to pick out the stamps I'd be using for Art Impressions, but something tells me that Kate really picked up on my quirky sense of humor.  If you've been around here for any amount of time you had to have noticed that I will take every opportunity possible to add a silly or snarky sentiment to my cards.  Art Impression images make it so easy to do that.  I mean just look at this pair.  You CANNOT add a straight sentiment to this stamp.  LOL
I know I'm doing a lousy job of keeping up with my commenting.  For some reason things around here seems to be busier than usual and the stack of "have to do's before you get on the computer" keeps getting higher and higher.  The only reason had got this card done was because I ran across this awesome sketch and the card just flew together in record time (for me).  I'll be around to visit as soon as possible.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Craft-room Challenge--here comes summer
Oldie but a Goodie--stitching (my Baker's twine is probably two years old)

I dig you

It's summer time so I'm sure you have a pair of sunglasses laying around if you need them to view this card.  LOL  Trendsetter Danielle Lounds has challenged us to use the following inspirational photo for the new challenge at There She Goes.

Lots of bright neon colors which scared me a bit at first, but when I finally picked the "right" stamp to use for my project it all clicked into place.  This little cutie is from the latest releases at TSG, the Aquaholic set in particular.  I built her some sand dunes complete with sea grass to play in with her bucket and shovel.  Neons aren't my strongest suit, but I'm happy with the card and I hope you'll find a little crafty time to make a card to play along with us.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Fabulous Dahling!

It's finally here!  It's an extra special challenge this week at Mo's Digital Pencil because we're having a children's challenge to go along with our regular weekly challenge.  If you have kids, any age, who would like to color up a Mo's kid image and make a card to enter, bring 'em on!  Hop on over to the blog for all the details.

The DT is showcasing some of the great children's images that can be found in Mo's store.  I've used "Fabulous" on my card and isn't she just!  The color scheme totally came from the paper.  It's a shame how many partial 6 x 6 pads I have and I was determined to  use up some of the leftovers.
Miss Sassy has Glossy Accents covered shades and some sparkle on her clothing.  I die cut the stitched heart and then sewed it through the middle.  Punched flowers, a paper bow, and some very trendy sequins add a little umph.
I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Aud Sentiments--anything goes
Craft-room Challenge--use your scraps
Ladybug Crafts Ink--color wheel opposites
Loves Rubber Stamps--anything goes
Papertake Weekly--anything goes
Twisted Tuesday--schools out plus yellow
Craft Your Passions--haberdashery items
Make It Monday--anything goes
Joanna Sheen--spots and stripes
Allsorts--here come the girls
Sketch Saturday--sketch

Rock Dog

Ain't nothin' but a hound dog, rockin all the time.....think that's what he's singing?  I fell in love with this little guy the minute I saw him and if you like him as much as I do then hop on over to the Birdie Brown blog and grab him cause he's Torico's freebie for the month of June.  I've used the sketch from Lesley Croghan's Seize the Birthday challenge which I was honored to be the winner of last time with my chef card for Jessica Knutsen's birthday.  The winners are chosen by the voting of your peers so that made the win doubly special.  :-)
I was just remarking to my uber talented friend Katie Sims that CAS style cards are really difficult for me.  I always want to add more and no matter what I do they always seem naked and too plain.  STB has some really great CAS sketches to work with and this little guy needs to be shown as the star he is so here's my card in all it's nakedness.  LOL
I was going to wait until tomorrow to post him, but he's so cute I just had to go ahead and share.
Hope you're having a fantastic week!
